Textile-integrated conductors

About the project

By integrating electronic components, textiles can be enhanced with many different functions such as sensors and lighting. This enables completely new application areas for textiles.

A range of permanently flexible, resilient, and conductive materials, including hybrid yarns and metallized fabrics, are available to match the application in question and are integrated through embroidery or laser technology to form textile-integrated circuits. Alternatively, stretchable electronic systems can use thermoplastic elastomer substrates that can be easily laminated to almost any type of fabric.

The technology is available at the co-creation space in Berlin. the scientific partner, Fraunhofer IZM can draw on a vast pool of reliable and fully tested materials, technologies, and systems for e-Textiles.
